From the Shadows to the Strip: Maestro Fencing at EduXplore

Maestro Fencing School was delighted to be part of the EduXplore KZN Homeschooling Expo at Grace Family Church in uMhlanga on 12 September 2026.

EduXplore brings together families exploring home education, alternative schooling, extracurricular activities, sport and other opportunities for children outside the traditional classroom. With demonstrations and activities designed to get children involved, it was the perfect setting for Maestro to introduce families to the fascinating world of fencing.

Our demonstration wasn't just about showing people what fencing looks like. It was about showing them what fencing feels like — the concentration, movement, speed, discipline and, most importantly, the fun.

Young combatants take to the piste

Some of our youngest combatants put on a spirited display for the spectators. These young fencers may still be at the beginning of their journeys, but they already demonstrate the confidence, determination and competitive spirit that make fencing such a unique sport.

More than learning to handle a sword

For Maestro, events like EduXplore are an important part of what we do. We believe fencing should be accessible to children from all backgrounds and that it offers far more than simply learning how to handle a sword.

It develops coordination, discipline, strategic thinking, confidence and resilience — while giving children a community in which they can grow.
